0 Weslaco, TX Weslaco, TX Full-time Full-time $12 an hour $12 an hour Job Summary Employee is responsible for the maintenance, construction, carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs throughout all City owned facilities.
Essential Job Functions Maintains grounds and buildings at city-owned properties and facilities.
Make plumbing, electrical (preferably a journeyman, but not required), and basic roof repairs.
Moves building contents from one building to another.
Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work.
Construct, maintain, and installation.
Work can and may be to floors, doors, light fixtures, and other areas.
Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED) One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.
Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
Applicant must have current valid Class C Driver's License and be insurable preferably Class B.
Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Read and interpret instructions regarding the safe and efficient use of equipment.
Pay careful attention to details.
Effective motor skills necessary to operate department vehicles, equipment, tools, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
Recognize unsafe working conditions to ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken to ensure employee safety.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands Constantly performs work outdoor on a variety of City projects.
Exposed to equipment/machinery, noise, odors, chemical fumes, dust, smoke, oil, dirt and/or grease.
Working under extreme weather conditions, excessive heat, and/or excessive cold for long periods of time.
Standing/walking most of the work period, moving in /about construction sites over rough terrain.
